wisdom teeth removal...

I know this is an odd place to ask this question, but on the odd chance that someone on here is an oral surgeon. How much does it normally cost to get your wisdom teeth removed? Mine are coming in and killing me and my insurance is a joke...

My kids both had them taken out in Monroe, WI about a year and a half and it cost about $3000 each, sometimes your health insurance will cover some of it depending if they are out or still under the gums.

I've been wondering that too. I should get mine out but my insurance wouldn't cover the anesthesia and they seem to really recommend it. Now that I've switched insurance carriers I don't think they'll cover any of it. They don't hurt but they're hard to keep clean.

sorry i didnt reply to this thread earlier, i rarely go on this forum. the cost will vary widely depending on the degree of impaction. you never know about coverage with medical insurance but it never hurts to ask. most of the time if the teeth are covered an appropriate anesthesia is also covered. about 90 % of the people who i take out 4 3rds on go with a general anesthesia. you never need to go to sleep for it but most people dont really enjoy the experience when they are awake, and it is also quicker and easier to work on a sleeping patient. the 2 most common pathologies associated with the retention on 3rd molars are cavities on the 3rds or the distal of the 2nds, and infection of the gums on the back edge of the teeth. i cant speak for how much anyone other than myself charges for anything because the government wont allow us to compare prices, they view it as an attempt at price fixing. so much for my "Right" to collectively bargain.
